3/19/2023 0 Comments Steelheart miljenko matijevic![]() The singing voice for Wahlberg‘s character was provided by Steelheart frontman Miljenko Matijevic for the Steel Dragon songs, and the final number was dubbed by Brian Vander Ark. Myles Kennedy, who was at the time the lead vocalist of The Mayfield Four and now the frontman of Alter Bridge and Slash‘s solo project, makes a cameo appearance. In terms of the cast for the movie, Wikipedia indicates: “The band members are portrayed by ex- Dokken and current Foreigner bassist Jeff Pilson, Black Label Society founder and Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde, actor Dominic West, and ex- Foreigner and Black Country Communion drummer Jason Bonham (the son of the late John Bonham, drummer for Led Zeppelin). It tells the story of Chris “Izzy” Cole, a tribute band singer who ascended to the position of lead vocalist of his favorite band, which was inspired by the real-life story of Tim “Ripper” Owens, singer in a Judas Priest tribute band who was chosen to replace singer Rob Halford when he left the band.” Wikipedia summarizes the movie Rock Star as follows (with slight edits): “ Rock Star is a 2001 American musical comedy-drama film directed by Stephen Herek and starring Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Aniston. The original version of that song is on my album called Wait. The first time I played them “We All Die Young”, they all immediately wanted to add the song in the movie. One day when we were in rehearsal the music director came in and asked if we had any songs from any of our previous albums or had written something recently that may work in the movie. We ate, drank, and rocked like “Rock Stars” every day we worked on the album. The band, the producer, the engineers, and everyone who was involved with the project were amazing and a pleasure to work with.
